THE SITE AND ITS CONTEXT

SITE CONTEXT

The site lies immediately adjacent to the built-up area of South Green and Great Burstead.

Basildon Council has identified this site for residential use as part of the wider H1 allocation in the Regulation 18 draft Local Plan. Owing to the site’s siting adjacent to the urban area with good access to services, this forms the basis of the policy justification to deliver a new neighbourhood in this location.

It contributes towards the government’s objective of significantly boosting the supply of housing, and the delivery of a suite of economic, social and environment benefits, in accordance with the Government’s desire to deliver sustainable development.

The site is surrounded by industrialised uses, such as the Guildprime Business Centre and Granites Farm industrial area. The recently approved residential and solar applications will create several different uses on the border of the site.

With good connections into Billericay High Street and local amenities at South Green, along with four bus routes accessible along Southend Road, the site is an ideal location for a new neighbourhood in Billericay to provide much-needed homes.
